She Serves... But at what cost?
Policing

35.4% of police officers are women - up from 34.7% in 2023 but women still remain underrepresented, especially in senior ranks.

Only 32.9% of promotions went to female officers in the year to March 2024
Fire & Rescue

Just 9.3% of firefighters overall were female, even though women made up 14% of new recruits and apprentices

Across development and trainee roles, around 17% of firefighter trainees and 16% in development were women, whereas only 10% of competent firefighters were female
Ambulance

A record 22,536 incidents of violence, aggression and abuse were reported, that’s a 15% rise from 19,633 the previous year

On average across the UK, at least 62 ambulance staff are attacked or abused every single day, nearly three incidents every hour

Alarmingly, female paramedics are three times more likely than the NHS average to face assault
