Suffia Perveen
Suffia Perveen is Chief Executive Officer of the Ethnic Minority Council (EMC), an equality and community infrastructure organisation with more than 20 years of experience building trusted relationships with diverse and underrepresented communities across Wolverhampton and the wider Black Country.
Suffia works to strengthen the connection between communities, voluntary and faith organisations and statutory services, ensuring that the voices of those who may be disproportionately affected by emergencies are heard, included and better supported.
Her work focuses on turning community insight into action, strengthening co-production and developing trusted networks that can support communities before, during and after emergencies. Through EMC's work with the West Midlands Local Resilience Forum and wider partners, Suffia is helping to explore how neighbourhood networks, community assets and local intelligence can strengthen preparedness, response and recovery.
She is a strong advocate for moving beyond consultation towards meaningful community participation, ensuring that resilience planning is informed by the people and communities it is designed to protect.
