Niall joined the Home Office in 2023 after retiring as a Brigadier following a 31-year career in the British Army. A Royal Signals Officer, he spent most of his career providing communications to the UK’s Very High Readiness Forces, deploying globally as a result. He has considerable experience in the use and provision of Radio and Satellite Communications to deployed units and their commanders. He deployed on operations a number of times, completing tours of Northern Ireland, Bosnia and Afghanistan during his service. Niall was awarded the OBE in 2014, is a Fellow of both the Institution of Engineering and Technology and Chartered Managers Institute, and has a MA in Military Studies.
