Martin is the ICT Operational Communications Lead for Cumbria Police after joining in June 2008 as a Radio Engineer supporting the deployment of Mission Critical Communications. He started his technical training in the Royal Air Force, before moving into Radio and Television broadcast engineering with National Transcommunications Limited (:ntl - Arqiva) and then maintaining and supplying trunked radio systems for Gatwick and UK Airports with AirRadio. His work grounded in mapping solutions and Automated Resource Location of officers and vehicles, led to his involvement of the development and deployment of the Cumbria Road Harm Index to support the Cumbria Road Safety Partnership.
