Are We Prepared for the Next Health Emergency?
Recent pandemics have shown that health emergencies can look very different from one another, so preparedness cannot simply be about planning for a repeat of COVID-19. This session will look at what we can learn from previous pandemics, how future threats may differ, and what effective preparedness looks like in practice.
Drawing on experience from COVID-19, we will consider the role of people, equipment, training, supply chains, surge capacity and partnerships, and ask whether we are doing enough now to prepare for the next health emergency.
